When we first learned of our new baby, I asked Landon what he wanted to name him or her. He said "Tree." I told him that maybe "Tree" wasn't a good name for a baby. So he wanted to name the baby "Rock" instead. I could see where this was headed and could only assume the next names would be moon, dirt, flower, cloud, or apple. Although celebrities these days give their children some strange names, I will not. We stopped at Rock. Now, of course, this will not be the name on our son's birth certificate, but Rock will undoubtedly be a nickname.
We recently had our 20-week check-up and everything looks great! The sonographer checked his heart, lungs, limbs, fluids, and took some measurements. Rock is breach right now, so she couldn't clear his spine. That means we'll get another sonogram in 4 weeks. Hopefully Rock will be in a better position and she can see his little spine. He was tossing and turning and just wasn't being cooperative (not to mention laying in a breach position)....I hope this isn't a sign! We were BLESSED with Landon, who has been a complete angel (unless he's around his grandparents). Is it too much to ask for 2 sweet, easy little boys?
I truly believe Landon will be an incredible big brother. He stands on his tip-toes to kiss my tummy at least 10 times a day. He's always offering me food (everyone offers the pregnant lady food!) and asks me if our baby likes this or that or tells me "Rock will love this, Mom!" My only fear with Landon is the interruption of his sleep. The boys' rooms are upstairs, separated only by a short hallway. Landon is a super-light sleeper (a curse he inherited from me) and I know he will get up every time he hears something. I think it will be best to keep Rock downstairs until he's sleeping through the night. There will certainly be some adjustments and challenging moments, but there's nothing this family can't handle!
We are infinitely excited about our baby boy's arrival, the most precious and perfect Christmas gift we could get. It used to hurt my heart a little to know that Landon will not be the sole recipient of our LOVE. I always tell him that he's the love of my life (a title that has always belonged to Bo, but one that Bo knows he has to share). There is nothing in this world like a mother's love of her child. That love brings me great pride and amazement and the most perfect feeling of warmth when I wrap my arms around my son. It also delivers the cruelest of pain when something hurts my little boy. I will do anything for that son of ours, and I now know that I have enough LOVE to share with his brother. I can say with great certainty that Bo and I give our fullest efforts to parenthood. Love multiplies with a growing family, and our little Caleb Christopher will know the same LOVE and devotion that his big brother has always had. HERE'S ETERNAL LOVE TO OUR BOYS, OUR SONS, LANDON AND CALEB.

Summer in the Smokies
We originally had reservations at this lovely house on the beach in Gulf Shores, AL. However, BP's oil mishap completely derailed that vacation. Since there were so many of us, we just couldn't take a chance on the oil spill spoiling our beach fun. Instead we headed to Pigeon Forge, TN. Although it wasn't the beach vacation we were so hoping for, it was still a wonderful destination. And, as always, it was delightful to see my family. Our condo itself was beautiful, not to mention the view and its surroundings. It was a neighbor to a very pretty golf course. That's what Bo tells me anyway. He played the course one morning and said it was just gorgeous. We toured Gatlinburg, visited the Smoky Mountains, played putt-putt, saw "Eclipse" (a few of us anyway), went to Dollywood and Splash Country, ate lots of yummy food, played some games, and just enjoyed each other's company. I love my family so much and it's always a delight to see them. I do regret that we weren't able to enjoy a pretty beach and give Landon his first experience of miles of sand. We'll get there one of these days. We've even thought about taking a weekend trip to Galveston just to quench our thirst for the beach. We shall see!
