How is it that I gave birth to a little baby boy who is now in Kindergarten?! Landon is attending Celina Elementary. We live in Aubrey, but fortunately we were able to register him in Celina. We'll be moving there...hopefully soon.
I made sure to have Landon in bed at 8:00 Sunday night. His teacher had given us something to open the night before school. There was a sweet poem and a bag of magic confetti, which was supposed to help him get a good night's rest and wake up ready for school. I heard him get up to use the restroom at 8:30. Then at 9:30 I heard "Mom, I can't sleep." I tucked him in bed AGAIN and rubbed his back and talked about stuff....anything but school. The kid was nervous. The confetti didn't work. I woke him up the next morning and he, too, told me the confetti with magic sleeping powers didn't work. We headed off to school and left our dear sweet little boy in the hands of Celina Elementary. When we picked him up and asked him how school was, he said "Good!" Nothing else. No details of the day. Just "Good!" I guess it's one step better than the "Fine" and eye rolling I'm sure to get when he's older. We did eventually get other details. His biggest concern was that the playground is more for big kids and he couldn't really play. He said he just played by himself. Broke my heart. We told him to find other kids who are alone and ask if they want to race or play tag. We'll see what he says about day two.
We're also comforted because his principal and assistant principal are 2 very good friends of ours. The principal lives just down the street from us now and the assistant will live just down the street in our new neighborhood. And their husbands are both fireman who work with Bo. We're a pretty close bunch and they're definitely looking out for our little man.
So, Day 1 of Kindergarten was a success. And I forgot to mention...no tears from Mom! Here are some pictures from the special morning. Enjoy!
