The Long-Awaited House

For some who have asked and for my out-of-town family, I will post some pictures of our house. Most of you know the story with this home and the excruciating and exhausting journey this has been. We still have a battle ahead of us, but at least we can fight that battle under our own roof. I cannot tell you how wonderful it is to have our own home again, our family space, our retreat.

You can see from the pictures that we don't have much on the walls, not a ton of décor, and a lack of furniture. It's a little bare, but new things will come with time. You'll have to forgive me as I took some of the indoor pictures when the sun was setting. We don't have blinds (or paper shades) on the west side of our home yet, so the sun was just pouring in and makes for subpar pictures. You get the general idea though. And when I took a few of the front of our home, the set had set and, again, the lack of light is obvious.

We fed carrots to our neighbor's horses. We roasted marshmallows. And we took some random silly pictures. Kudos to my hubby for having impeccable timing with the camera! It was a nice ending to a fun day of 4-wheeler riding, playing king of the mountain on our mound of dirt and making Celina's best mud pies!

Christmas 2013

You all know the struggles and hardship that have come with building this new home. I will do a separate post on our house soon. Most importantly, though, we were in it for Christmas! We spent our first night there on December 23rd. As you can imagine, we didn't have much moved in, but we had the bare bones and essentials. We had each other and our own roof again and that's what mattered! Bo had to work on Christmas day, so we did most of our gifts on Christmas Eve. We took some pictures of the boys opening gifts, but that's about it. No family pictures and no pictures at our other Christmas celebrations. I think the camera will come back out more often once things settle down a bit.

The first 2 pictures are from one of our ice days. We got a pretty intense ice storm and school was closed for 4 days. That's rare in these parts. The boys sat in the plastic pool, which glided perfectly behind the 4-wheeler. Landon and I even did some skiing in the pool. I fell pretty hard a few times and that ice was NOT forgiving!
